June 17, 2006 – Zareinu Educational Centre of Metropolitan Toronto, a world-renowned day school and treatment centre for children with physical and developmental disabilities, is gearing up for the 9th Annual Zareinu Moveathon on Sunday, June 18, 2006, at Toronto’s Earl Bales Park. The full-day fundraiser will feature 50K and 100K Master bike rides, a 20K Family ride, a 10K run, and a 2K Family Fun Loop.
Bright and early on Moveathon day, Earl Bales Park becomes the centre of activity. Hundreds of participants gather together, eagerly anticipating the start of various exciting athletic Moveathon events. The Moveathon is the culmination of months of athletic training and hundreds of volunteer hours invested in a united cause. It’s a special day of the year, where everyone unites in support of the special children of Zareinu and their families.
The assorted bike rides vary in length. The 100k ride and 50K ride weave through scenic Kleinburg. The action packed Eli Monson Simpson 20k Family ride, 20k boys ride, and 20k girls ride takes place on a fully supported route through city streets. Families and School teams participate in these exciting events. Hundred of cyclists of all ages and walks of life ride side by side.
The 2k loop is a family walk that involves participation of young and old. The paved route winds through scenic Earl Bales Park and involves live entertainment, food and surprises along the way. One may walk, run, bike, rollerblade or push their small ones in strollers.
