October 28, 2009 (Maui, Hawaii) – Canadians were in podium contention at the XTERRA World Championships Sunday in Maui with Melanie McQuaid (Can) Nature’s Path capturing bronze in the Pro Women’s competition. Julie Dibens (GBr) won the world title, nearly eight minutes ahead of second place, Lesley Paterson (USA). Other notable Canadian results include Danelle Kabush (Can) Luna Pro Team 7th, Christine Jeffrey (Can) 8th, and pro mountain biker Marie-Hélène Prémont (Can) Maxxis-Rocky Mountain in 12th.
On the men’s side, Eneko Llanos (Esp) snatched up the World Championship title, less than a minute ahead of second place, Nicolas Lebrun (Fra). Austria’s Michael Weiss (Aut) took the bronze. The top Canuck was Victoria’s Mike Vine (Can) Vega in 12th.
