March 12, 2004 – The US got off to a fast start at round two of the UCI Track World Cup in Mexico this evening with winning performances from Colby Pearce (Boulder, Colo.) and Erin Mirabella (Racine, Wisc.).  Pearce won the men's 15K scratch race ahead of Greg Henderson (NZL).  In the following event, Mirabella kept the ball rolling with a victory in the Women's 20K points race, ahead of Lada Kozlikova (CZE). Martin Gilbert finished lucky 13th.

Tanya Lindenmuth (Trexlertown, Pa.) also put in a strong performance.  After posting the best qualifying time in the morning session, Lindenmuth placed second in the final of the women's sprint.

In other action, Marty Nothstein (Orefield, Pa.) rode to a fifth place finish in the men's Keirin. Christian Stahl (Bethany, Conn.) placed 10th in the men's 1K time trial. Canada's Lori-Ann Muenzer was second in the 200m qualifiers. Lars Madsen (Can) placed sixth in his heat of qualifiers. Becky Quinn (Quakertown, Pa.) placed 15th in the women's 20K points race and Joe D’Antoni (Raleigh, N.C.) clocked a 4:46 in the men's individual pursuit for a 14th place finish. Canada's Jean-Francois Laroche finished 17th in  4:52.935.

Finally, Symmetrics' Mandy Poitras took 12th in the women's points race.
