December 21, 2012 (Montreal, QC) – Katarzyna Pawlowska is the newest addition to the Montreal-based GSD/Kallisto/Specialized women’s road team. Pawlowska, 23, from Poland, won the scratch championship at the 2012 UCI Worlds in Melbourne, Australia.
In addition, she won silver this year in team pursuit in PanevòÏys, Lithuania for the European championships where she also finished third in the omnium. At the 2012 London Olympics, Pawlowska finished 11th in the road race.
In other team news, Anne-Marie B. Morin has left hospital after emergency surgery for kidney stones. Meanwhile, Alizée Brien is with the national team at a training camp in California, “We are well-coached here with Denise Kelly and Tanya Dubnicoff, the coaches for the national track and road teams,” says Brien. “Everything is well organized and professional.”
“I am here with 5 other girls: Jasmin Glaesser, Candice Vermeulen, Steph Roorda, Laura Brown and Karol-Ann Canuel,” continues Brien. “Audrey was unable to make it, injuring herself before leaving. It’s really fun here and yet difficult at the same time. We do big training rides on beautiful mountain roads while the temperature is about 10 or 15 C. We have only done RRs so far, but in a few days we will get on the track which will be a first for me.”
