Winter Internship Opportunity – OCA

December 9, 2010 (Toronto, ON) – The Ontario Cycling Association (OCA) is seeking someone to take on the position of Intern Membership Assistant from January to April. The Ontario Cycling Association (OCA) is the provincial sport organization governing the sport of Cycling. Members are competitive and recreational cyclists between the ages of 5 and 80. We are seeking a candidate to work with current staff and volunteer committees and to provide administrative support to the new initiatives undertaken by the OCA.

Key Accountabilities:
– Heavy focus on membership support
– Collection of data, membership and program registration, and all client services such as answering the phone, faxing and photocopying services
– Assist with processing and tracking club affiliations
– Assist in event coordination and execution, including; registration, budgeting, follow-up and evaluation
– Assist in tracking, processing, and fulfilling information inquiries

Other Responsibilities:
– Assist with planning special events and meetings
– Attending events as the OCA representative
– As a small association, we expect a team player who will help wherever necessary.

– Ability to draw from a repertoire of knowledge, skills, and resources to identify and evaluate issues and opportunities.

Managing Relationships
– Demonstrated interpersonal savvy through working effectively and communicating with a variety of different audiences.
– Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Other Requirements:
– Proficient computer skills; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
– Proven administration experience and skills
– Access to transportation for occasional evening and weekend support

What Prospective Applicants Will Learn:
– How not-for-profit sports organizations are run on a day-to-day basis
– Event Organization skills How to effectively manage relationships with members and potential sponsors/organizers
– How to network within the cycling and not-for-profit industries
– How to successfully multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Financial Support:
– $2000 max per term (24 hours per week x 16 weeks) from Jan 2011-Apr 2011
