February 7, 2007 (Dieppe, NB) – Tired of riding the trainer? Need a break from the skis? Check out this out…the Cyclo-cross Winter Championships will again take place during the Dieppe Friendship Carnival but with actual snow this year!
A little bit like the traditional “Polar Bear Dip” every new year’s day, the Winter Cyclo-cross Championships will be at its second year of action and forces cyclists to break the winter training routine by bringing out the bike and race on this fun course build with the city’s snow blowers.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, February 10th, 2007 (2 pm) at the Rotary Park (St-Anselme) in Dieppe. Registration will take place on site at the National Cycling Centre one hour prior to the event. No registration fee, draw prizes for participants. Event will be run under our handicap system (40 minutes + 1 lap) to offer everyone an equal chance to win!
The course has been prepared this morning with the great help of the City of Dieppe (St-Anselme Park) staff and looks great! We went as far a grooming the course! The course will include everything from paved roads, dirt roads, grass and of course, snow! See attachment for the course map. We’re expecting -6 degrees for Saturday, compare to what we got in the last two weeks, it’ll be like a day at the beach!
Here are some photos from last years event…
