December 9, 2008 (Ottawa, ON) – After reaching stardom with two tremendous performances at round #1 of the Track Cycling World Cup in Manchester, Tara Whitten from Edmonton is now gearing up for round #3 in Cali, from December 11-13. Whitten won two silver medals in the Individual Pursuit and the Scratch race in Manchester – her first world cup podiums ever.
Whitten will include the Individual Pursuit and the Scratch races to her program in Cali, but she will also have a first attempt at the Points race. The Points race is a very important component of the women race program, as it is one of the only three disciplines, along with the Sprint and the Individual Pursuit, to be showcase at the Olympic Games.
Zach Bell will also start his track season in Cali. The Yukon native finished 9th in the Points race in Beijing and looks forward to competing in the Points race and the Scratch competition.
The team will be lead by former National Team member, Tanya Dubnicoff.
