September 19, 2006 – The Humber River Regional Hospital Foundation’s inaugural Wheels for Wellness cycling event, scheduled for October 1st at Downsview Park, is shaping up to be a huge success. But there is still time to register and join Canadian Olympic cycling stars Kate Pace Lindsay and Sue Palmer-Komar, local media celebrities and other HRRH supporters for a fabulous day of cycling.
Sanctioned by the Ontario Cycling Association, routes of 5, 60 and 100 kilometres provide an opportunity for any cyclist to enjoy either a great day of serious biking or a leisurely family outing. All routes are fully supported with services along the way: marshalling, technical help, rest stops and safety personnel.
And following the cycling, join all participants at The Hangar at Downsview Park for a community BBQ picnic with local celebrity chefs the Fat Boys and great musical entertainment by Reno and Musicrew. The special Children’s Activity Centre will feature face painting, clowns and lots of fun things for the younger cyclists.
The Foundation is very pleased that our friends from the Spirit of Life, a local organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs, will be joining us both as volunteers and as participants in the 5 kilometre route.
