June 24, 2019 (Lanark, Ont.) – The 3rd leg of the Eastern Canada Gravel Cup p/b Euro-Sports the Wheelers Maple Highlander took place under sunny skies on Saturday June 22nd. The 159 participants tackled the 80km Competitive course and the 45km Sport Course and the new finish through the sugar bush at Wheelers.
In the Competitive Men’s category Derrick St. John (Trek Hyperthreads) went solo with 30km remaining and powered away for his first win of the Gravel Cup and retaining his series yellow jersey. The podium was rounded out by Osmond Bakker and Steve Champman (nine2fivepro) Natasha Elliot (Trek Hyperthreads) continued her dominance and making it three for three in her new unofficial National Gravel Champions Jersey while retaining the series lead. Jennifer Stephenson (nine2fivepro) and Sonia Tessier (Rebec & Kroes) completed the podium spots. Sonia not realizing she had podiumed left early and will receive a special ceremony at the next event.
