April 12, 2008 (Victoria, BC) – Cycling BC’s newest BMX Club, West Shore BMX, will host their first race, April 20 on the 2007 BMX World Championship track located at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Center in Victoria, BC. The inaugural race will kick off the Club’s great race season which includes hosting two BC Cup series races drawing riders from across the province, free Redline Learn 2 Race clinics, and the Vancouver Island Summer Games Zone qualifying event on May 24th.
Everyone is welcome at the track to check out the racing action and to learn more about BMX racing, which debuts in Beijing as an Olympic sport at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Registration for Sunday’s race takes place from 10-11am, with racing to follow. This race is worth double the points will cost licensed riders $6 to enter, which includes a T-shirt given to all participants. New riders of all ages , including kids as young as 4 years old, are welcome to come out and try their hand at BMX racing.
