July 30, 2008 – Due to lack of interest the Wasaga Beach SummerFEST has been cancelled. The Midweek Cycling Club polled participants at their weekly Tuesday evening event, a group of riders that make up the core of Ontario’s road rider base and found that too small of a percentage were planning to participate at the Wasaga Beach Twilight Crits.

The low interest extrapolated to the full Ontario road race population would not meet the number of participants to deliver the show required to fulfill the goal of SummerFEST which was to encourage youth to take up the sport of road cycling. Therefore it was decided to cancel the event.
