April 7, 2010 – Conservation Halton is seeking a qualified individual to fill the volunteer position of Mountain Bike Ambassador for the Kelso / Hilton Falls Conservation Area in Ontario. Reporting to the Patrol & Visitor Safety Supervisor, Mountain Bike Ambassadors are responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for our guests by inspecting and documenting trail conditions, promoting the IMBA Rules of the Trail, providing directions and information, and assisting in emergencies when required.

Responsibilities:
– Liaise with the public to ensure excellence in customer service.
– Interact with trail users to provide guidance and information
– Promote IMBA Rules of the Trail.
– Act as an ambassador for the sport of Mountain Biking.
– Monitor and document trail and feature conditions.
– Monitor and document trail usage and incidents.
– Liaise with the Security Department, Park Day Manager and Emergency Services in the event of an emergency.
– Provide First Aid-CPR if required.
– Understand and adhere to Conservation Halton HR policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
– Understand and adhere to Conservation Halton Health and Safety policies as outlined in the Health and Safety manual.

Qualifications:
– Certified in first aid to the Standard level or higher. (Training Provided if Required)
– Must own or have use of a trail specific bicycle.
– Minimum of one year off road bicycle riding experience.
– Good written and oral communication skills.

Hours: Perform a minimum of 6 hours every two weeks during the Mountain Bike season including evenings, weekends and holidays.
