Volcano Threatens Giro, Snowy Start for ToC, Weylandt’s Number Retired

May 13, 2011 (Italy) – Mt. Etna in Sicily is showing signs that it may erupt at any moment and that has Giro d’Italia officials worried, as Stage 9 of the race has riders climbing the volcano twice, according to a report by The Australian. In California, however, it appears the start of the Amgen Tour of California may face snow on the start line in Lake Tahoe on Monday.
