Velocity Shish-ka-bob Track Meet

June 11, 2007 – Over 60 riders took to the Argyll Velodrome in Edmonton this past weekend for the 2nd Velocity Shish-ka-bob Track Meet, hosted by the Velocity Cycling Club.Notable performances over the weekend included rising sprint star Felix Haspel’s (Synergy Racing) domination of the power events: En route to the Category 1/2 Men’s Omnium title, Haspel took the Match Sprint, Kilometre Time Trial, Keirin, and showed his versatility by also winning the Scratch Race. The Women’s races, meanwhile, were dominated by the Synergy duo of Stephanie Roorda, winning the endurance events, and Natasha Kuzmak, who dominated the shorter races.

Strong performances were also turned in by junior Stephen Andrichuk (CMC/Bow Cycle), who won the Category 4 omnium, and young women Ellen Sparling and Jessica Kissel (both bicisport) who dominated the Women B races. Particularly encouraging at the meet was the demographic of the riders — at least one-third of the field were under 19 years of age.”
