December 5, 2010 (Mol, Belgiuam) – Pieter Vanspeybrouck (Bel) Topsport Vlaanderen grabbed the victory in the second annual Boonen & Friends charity cyclocross race. Tom Boonen (Bel) Quick Step took the holeshot, but he crashed early in the race and from then he was a little more careful. Team mate Maarten Wynants (Bel) Quick Step tried to defend his last year`s title, till he got a flat tire. Vanspeybrouck kept going all the time and gained the win in Mol. Wynants finished in second place, Wouter Weylandt (Bel) took the final spot on the podium.

Last year, Boonen and Quick Step directeur sportif Wilfried Peeters launched a cyclocross race to support a good cause, ‘Move to Improve’. After a very successful first edition, the second edition of the Boonen & Friends cyclocross race was held yesterday. A lot of volunteers made this event possible by clearing all snow from the track.

The day started with a cyclocross race for former champions. Steven de Jongh tried to surprise his competition with an early solo attack, but former cyclocross World Champion Erwin Vervecken reeled him in during the final lap. Vervecken took the win, De Jongh finished second.
