USA Cycling Pro XCT Finale Rescheduled

release by USA Cycling

July 16, 2009 (Colorado Springs, CO) – The Yankee Clipper at Windham Mountain, set for August 15 in Windham, N.Y. will mark the new 2009 finale of the USA Cycling Professional Cross Country Tour (Pro XCT) presented by Sho-air. Due to logistical concerns, the Pro XCT Finals, scheduled for September 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada have been cancelled, making the Windham Mountain event the final race of the 2009 series.

In its first year, the Pro XCT presented by Sho-air originally included all seven of the nation’s UCI sanctioned events. However with the cancellation of the Finals, the series will now include six total events, concluding at Windham Mountain on Aug. 15.

With only two events remaining on the inaugural Pro XCT, Max Plaxton (CAN/Sho-air-Specialized) currently leads the men’s standings (385 points) with 2004 Olympian Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski (Boulder, Colo./Subaru-Gary Fisher) on his heels at 375. On the women’s side another Canadian, Catharine Pendrel (CAN/Luna) holds a slim lead over 2008 U.S. Olympian, Georgia Gould (Fort Collins, Colo./Luna), 395- 390.

The country’s premier professional cross country series, the Pro XCT is designed to offer top off road racers a consistent competitive stage and is the only one of its kind in America made up exclusively of events offering UCI points.

Remaining 2009 USA Cycling Pro XCT presented by Sho-air contests:

– August 8: U.S. Cup – Mount Snow, West Dover, Vt.
– August 15: Yankee Clipper at Windham Mountain, Windham, N.Y.
