June 20, 2003 (Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Cycling announced Friday it's full team of athlete nominations representing the U.S. at the 2003 World Track Championships, July 30-August 3, in Stuttgart, Germany.

Many of the automatic selections group earned their World Championship nominations by winning their respective events at the 2003 Pan Am and World Championship Qualifier in Colorado Springs last weekend.

U.S. athletes nominated to the 2003 World Track Cycling Championship Team include: Giddeon Massie, (Colorado Springs, Colo.) – team sprint, sprint, keirin; James Carney (Boulder, Colo.) – scratch race; Colby Pearce (Boulder, Colo.) – points race; Stephen Alfred (Santa Cruz, Calif.) – team sprint and keirin; Anton Quist – team sprint.

The women's team will include: Tanya Lindenmuth (Trexlertown, Pa.) – sprint, 500m, keirin; Jennie Reed (Kirkland, WA) – keirin; Erin Mirabella (Chula Vista, Calif.) – points race; and Sarah Uhl (Perkasie, Pa.) – scratch race.

“After a very exciting weekend and the most competitive track racing this season, we are pleased to announce these automatic nominations,” said Steve Johnson, COO and Director of Athletics for USA Cycling. “Many athletes posted world-class times at this event which is an important barometer as we continue our preparation for the 2004 Olympic games in Athens. As the UCI continues with its plan to move international track racing to the winter months, the next 12 months will be incredibly busy for American track athletes with the Pan Am Games, two World Championships and the Olympic Games. I think it is safe to say that it is going to be an exciting year!”

USA Cycling will announce the final team including discretionary team nominations on June 27.
