December 14, 2012 (London, ON) – The FCV is pleased to announce that with the co-operation of Canadian bicycle manufacturer Cervelo, American Olympic Track athlete Bobby Lea, will be at the Forest City Velodrome on Saturday December 15th at 4pm.
For those of you who do not know Bobby Lea:
(1) Here is his biopage from the 2012 London Summer Olympics
(2) his NBC Sports page (with results) from the Olympics
(3) and his USACycling biopage
(4) He and his brother Syd were the subjects of a very moving and inspirational write up in Bicycling magazine this spring
Bring your autograph books and sharpie pens and get the rare chance to meet a true Olympian. He’ll be at the velodrome for the youth session on Saturday. Come out — and stay for the races, the last race of 2012, the Christmas Special! (Will Bobby Lea be racing Sat. evening? I haven’t a clue, but I wouldn’t want to miss it if he were! And I’d love to take to the track with him were I able!)
Wesley and I often reflect just how lucky we are to have a facility like FCV and to be able to ride and train with professional cyclists, national and world champions, and (now) Olympians! What other sport and what other place lets 8 and 9 year olds (e.g. Wesley and Liam) meet, ride with, train with, and compete alongside so many world-class athletes! Come out and meet Bobby Lea, support the FCV youth program, and have a great time! (Can you tell how excited I am?)
Hope to see you all there,
Benjamin Hill
