September 7, 2002, Les Gets, France – Victory in the final round of the
World Cup series went to the Netherlands’ Bas De Bever! Taking the win he
not only beat Mike King (USA, Haro/Lee Dungarees) but also the King of
4-Cross, Brian Lopes (USA, GT Bicycles). An upset win without a doubt, De
Bever’s win was a first for the Team Be one rider. A bunch up during the
race put King in second and Lopes in third, giving De Bever’s the gold.

Despite Lopes’ third place finish, he managed to clean up and take the
overall title. King’s second place finish moved him into third place
overall. Cedric Gracia (FRA, Volvo-Cannondale) was second overall. Canada’s
only overall finisher was Jordie Lunn in 43rd.
