September 21, 2003 – Just a reminder that the United Way Stationary Bike Challenge is this Wednesday, September 24 at Commonwealth Square, across from Hamilton City Hall, from 9:00AM . to 6:00PM. The Hamilton 2003 World Cycling Festival in partnership with United Way of Burlington and Greater Hamilton would like to let the community know that they can still get their team into the action and participate in “Gearing up for World Cycling”!

A Stationary Bike Challenge team is composed of ten to fifteen participants with enthusiasm and community spirit that have raised a minimum of $1,000 in pledges to benefit the United Way. Teams will ride 250 kms on stationary bikes. Prizes will be provided for teams with “best time” and top fundraising teams. The World Cycling Festival and United Way would like to thank Investors Group for their sponsorship and support of the Stationary Bike Challenge. Participants will have a chance to “virtually ride” a road cycling course thanks to the efforts of Telecom Computers. Music and entertainment will be provided throughout the day on Wednesday as well.

Making appearances this Wednesday will be Olympic medallist Curt Harnett as well as Sue Palmer-Komar, a member of the Canadian National Team that will be competing at the Road World Championships from October 6 to 12 here in Hamilton.
