April 20, 2008 (Calabogie, ON) – Eric Boily (Team VW) was feeling disappointed on his way back from Saturday’s 4th Annual Tour of the Battenkill, near Salem, NY (USA), after flatting and not doing well. Back in Canada, Boily and team mate Jean Michel Lachance decided to try their luck at Sunday’s 100km Ultralink Calabogie Classic, Ontario Cup #2, presented by Cyclelogik in the Ottawa region.

Half way through the road race, Lachance and half a dozen other riders broke away from the pack. A few kilometres later, Boily caught up with this group. One of the riders in the break realized that Volkswagen had two cyclists in the group and attacked. Boily caught and passed him and rode ahead on his own, but nobody was able to catch him and he crossed the finish line alone for the win. Lachance finished 8th, at 1:21.

This victory, together with Bruno Langlois’ win at Battenkill on Saturday, gives Volkswagen a perfect two out of two scorecard on our first weekend of the racing season.
