December 15, 2010 (Hamilton, ON) – We received a nice little boost before Christmas for the Hamilton Velodrome project. Pat McQuaid, UCI President, sent a letter of support to Hamilton City Council for the Hamilton Velodrome. McQuaid’s letter made it clear that Hamilton could count on the continuing support of the UCI for ongoing international level competitions, IF the velodrome was built to meet certain standards, including a fully enclosed building, with climate control.
The commitment by the UCI, shows that if the velodrome built for the 2015 Pan Am Games is a permanent and meaningful facility, that Hamilton will be able to host future world-class events.
The NCCH and the City of Hamilton are continuing to build on solid business and program plans that show that a permanent, world-class and sustainable facility can be built to successfully provide community level, development and high performance cycling programs, as well as a host of multi-sport activities.
