UCI/MTB Festival In Calgary

January 8, 2003 – Plans for the 2004 UCI World Cup and Bike Calgary Festival are well under way! Make plans to join the world's top mountain bikers July 1 – 4 at Canada Olympic Park, Calgary. UCI competitions in 4X, Downhill and X-Country promise to provide an exciting preview of the 2004 Olympic mountain bike events.

Other scheduled events at Canada Olympic Park will happen at the Bike Calgary Festival. Festival events include an open Citizen Race and our Kid's Bike Race, where riders of all abilities can race on the World Cup course! Entertainment, including live music and beer gardens, is also planned.

Third Annual TransRockies Challenge Over 200 people are already signed up to participate in the 3rd annual TransRockies Challenge, the world's toughest mountain bike race! Based on the hugely successful TransAlp Challenge in Europe, the TransRockies Challenge is the ultimate adventure mountain bike race in North America.

The race begins in Fernie, BC and will end in Canmore, Alberta. This seven day, 600 km wilderness adventure sees mountain biking enthusiasts endure the incredible challenges of traversing some of the most rugged and spectacular mountain terrain in the world, the Canadian Rocky Mountains. An event that will surely test their physical endurance and mental determination.

The TransRockies is a seven day staged event, where two-person amateur and pro teams from all over the world will traverse over the continental divide and cover over 600 km and climb 12,000 altitude metres.

Winners will share a purse of $20,000 CDN in prize money.
