May 17, 2019 (Albstadt, Germany) – Emily Batty (Trek Factory Racing) and Peter Disera (Norco Factory Team) led the Canadian charge each finishing 14th respectively in the women’s and men’s XCC Short Track races in Albstadt at UCI MTB World Cup #1.
In the women’s race Haley Smith (Norco Factory Team) followed Batty in 15th with Catharine Pendrel (Team Canada) in 16th for three Canucks in the top 20. Sandra Walter (Team Canada) finished 23rd, Cindy Montambault (Team Canada) was 37th. Reigning MTB Worlds champ, Kate Courtney (USA) Scott-SRAM won a close battle with Jolanda Neff (Sui) Trek Factory Racing while Kathrin Stirnemann (Sui) Thomus RN Swiss Bike placed third. In the Elite men’s race a steady flow of attacks by Mathieu van der Poel (Ned) Corendon Circus and Nino Shurter (Sui) Scott-SRAM proved challenging. Quebec’s Raphael Gagne (Team Canada) was the next best Canuck in 37th. Van Der Poel held on to first overall followed by Lars Forester (Scott-SRAM) in second with Schurter third.Results (brief)

Reb and I actually weren’t in the Short Track because we are ranked outside the Top 40.
