UCI World MTB Cup Overall Standings

June 2, 2003 – After two events in the UCI World MTB Cup Series Switzerland's Christoph Sauser (Siemens Mobile) and Norway's Gunn-Rita Dahle (Merida Intíl) are leading the men's and women's cross country series respectively.

Roland Green (Trek/Volkswagen) is sitting 12th overall in the men's category, with Seamus McGrath (Haro Lee Dungarees) is in 49th place (after competing in only one of the two events). After racing this past weekend in Scotland Mat Toulouse (Gears Racing) is in 66th place overall. Someone you won't see in the overall rankings yet is Ryder Hesjedal (Gary Fisher/Subaru) who was 6th overall in the 2002 series. He DNFíd last weekend in St. Wendel, and was not competing this past weekend in Scotland.

Marie-Helene Premont (Oryx) and Chrissy Redden (Gary Fisher Subaru) are the leading Canadian women in 12th and 13th position respectively. Not far behind is Alison Sydor (Trek-Volkswagen) in 19th. Kiara Bisaro (Gears Racing) after only one event is in 44th position and teammate Trish Sinclair is in 50th.

The next race in the UCI World MTB Cup cross country series will be on Canadian soil at Mont-Ste-Anne, June 28-29th. Canadian riders seem to do better mid to late season and racing on home turf.
