UCI World Cup MTB 4X

July 10, 2005 (New Mexico, USA) – Riders tore up the intense World Cup four-cross course at Angel Fire resort yesterday evening. It included a killer combination of tabletops, drops, rollers, gaps, step-ups and berms. Jill Kintner (USA, Yeti) grabbed the win, making it her fourth World Cup victory this season. Australia’s Katrina Miller (AUS, Jamis) took second, while current series leader Anneke Beerten (NED, Specialized) captured third. Beerten leads the series by only 30 points over second place, Kintner. Canada’s Michelle Dumaresq (CAN, Santa Cruz) was eighth in the event.

In the men’s head-to-head action, Brian Lopes (USA, G.T.) earned the bragging rights on his home soil. Germany’s Guido Tschugg (GER, SRAM-Rock Shox-Avid) careened across the finish line second, while Jared Graves (AUS, Yeti), who finished second in the downhill event earlier in the day, pulled off a third-place finish.

Lopes is now in the series lead with 171 points over Mikal Prokop’s (CZE) 137.
