June 4, 2006 (Willingen, Germany) — Tracy Moseley (GBR, Kona-Les Gets) put the hammer down in the UCI World Cup women’s downhill final to grab the win after qualifying third in the semi-finals. Sabrina Jonnier (FRA, Iron Horse) was only fractions of a second slower on the grippy 1.4-kilometre course. Rachel Atherton (GBR, Animal-Giant) took third spot in front of thousands of cycling fans. Moseley continues to lead the series, followed by Jonnier and Atherton in second and third place, respectively.

Canada had four women starting. Danika Schroeter (CAN, Team Cove Bikes) came out with 12th place, the best Canadian result. Claire Buchar (CAN, Specialized-Rock Shox) was 14th, Katrina Strand (CAN, Scott-Marzocchi) placed 23rd and Brook Baker (CAN, Giro-Beastgear-Sombrio) wound up 24th.

The weather was dry and course conditions were ideal.
