April 01, 2016 (Toronto, ON) – With the quickly growing popularity of electric bikes around the world, the UCI has recognized the huge potential offered by the huge new demographic of cyclists this technology has created. As a result the UCI has announced today that in 2017 it will introduce an eBike category to its prestigious WorldTour Series. The move is in line with the UCI’s “Cycling For All” mandate and opens up new opportunities for all levels of cyclists to potentially become WorldTour riders.
