May 30, 2014 (Albstadt, Germany) – The third round of the UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup is underway in Germany today. It’s no surprise that the queen of the discipline, World Champ Alexandra Engen (Swe) Ghost Factory Racing qualified first in a time of 1:56.080. The top Canadian women’s qualifier was Cindy Montambault (Can) CVM 2 Vals in 12th, followed by Rachel Pageau (Can) Team Canada in 22nd.
The men’s qualifiers saw Canada’s Leandre Bouchard (Can) Team Canada log the second-fastest time less than half a second behind top seed Kevin Miquel (Fra). Bouchard finished 23rd in last week’s Eliminator in the Czech Republic and had a breakthrough fifth in the XCO last weekend.
Other Canadian qualifiers include Andrew L’Esperance (Can) Norco Factory Team in 18th, Peter Disera (Can) Norco Factory Team in 20th, and Sébastien Cadieux-Duval (Can) in 31st.
The finals take place later today.
