August 02, 2014 (Mont-Ste-Anne, Quebec) – Canada’s Jack Iles (Evil Vengeance Tour) raced to his first UCI World Cup DH podium in the Junior Men’s competition today at fabled Mont-Ste-Anne. Iles was in the hot seat with just three riders to go and only Luca Shaw (USA) SRAM/TLD Racing could beat the rising star from Whistler, BC.

Finishing third was Loris Vergier (Fra) Lapierre Gravity Republic while Jack Almond, the only other Canadian in the Junior Men’s final, finished 24th.

The Elite Women’s race was a nailbiter as Canada’s Micayla Gatto (Pivot Factory DH Team) finished just off the podium in 6th followed by reigning Canadian DH champ, Vaea Verbeeck, in 7th – both were in the hot seat before the final four riders. Casey Brown (Can) Bergamont Hayes World Team made the top 10 claiming 10th.

In the end Manon Carpenter (Gbr) Madison Saracen Factory Team the last rider of the day edged out Rachel Atherton (Gbr) GT Factory Racing by a mere 0.724 for the win with Emmeline Ragot (Fra) Lapierre Gravity Republic also in the running taking third at 0.771 behind the winner.

Samuel Hill (Aus) Chain Reaction Cycles.Com / Nukeproof was unstoppable in the Elite Men’s DH final with a heart-stopping time of 4:10.566 that no one could touch.

Josh Bryceland (Gbr) Santa Cruz Syndicate, the fastest qualifier and last man on the course, took second with Danny Hart (Gbr) Giant Factory Off-Road Team in third. The top Canadian was Mark Wallace (Can) Devinci Global Racing in 23rd.
