May 24, 2019 (Nove Mesto, CZE) – Following a muddy start in Albstadt Germany last weekend, riders are getting geared up for another UCI World Cup XC weekend on the rooty tracks of popular Nové Mesto Na Morave in the Czech Republic, known for its massive crowds and huge MTB following .
The contingent 20+ Canadians will take to the start line at round #2 with eight wearing team Canada colours. Racing begins on Friday with the XCC events followed by the U23 and Junior XCO races on Saturday, and the Elite Men’s and Women’s XCO competitions on Sunday.Carter Woods (Rocky Mountain Factory Team), second last weekend, will be looking for the podium again in the Junior Men’s race while Emilly Johnston (Pendrel Racing) will look to improve on her 8th-place result in the Junior women’s competition.
Sean Fincham (Norco Factory) will be gunning for another top-tenth in U23 men’s race while Laurie Arseneault (Team Canada) will have the same goal to improve on her 12th place result last weekend.Things look good the Elite Women with Haley Smith (Norco Factory Team) leading the charge last weekend as she took home 9th for her best-Euro World Cup result while teammate Peter Disera is fired up following his career-best 19th in the Elite Men’s competition.
Jenn Jackson (AWI Racing), who made her World Cup MTB debut last weekend tweeted. “Main motto here, and for this trip I guess, is to do the best with what you’ve got and believe there’s always a chance … and maybe get better shoes.”Full Canadian rosters below.
