UCI MTB World Cup #2 Houffalize Junior/U23 Women’s and U23 Men’s Results

April 14, 2012 (Houffalize, Belgium) – France and Germany battled for top honours in the 9.26km Junior Women’s race this morning in Houffalize, one Start Loop + one Lap, as Margot Moschetti (Fra) came out on top with the win by 2s over Germany’s Lena Putz in second followed by her teammate Sofia Wiedenroth in 3rd. Racing for Canada was reigning Junior champ and Canada Cup MTB series winner, Frederique Trudel, in 39th.

Yana Belomoyna (Ukr) Bi&Esse – Infotre Protek won the 14.32km U23 Women’s race over Ekaterina Anoshina (Rus) Team Protek in second and Rebecca Henderson (Aus) in third. No Canadians competed.

In the U23 Men’s 24.44km race (1 Start Loop + 4 Laps) Ondrej Cink (Cze) Merida Biking Team took the win in 1:19:33 with a comfortable 21-second margin over Austria’s Alexander Gehbauer in second with Julian Schleb (Ger) landing on the podium in third. No Canadian men competed.
