UCI MTB World Championships Junior Women/Men’s XCO Full Results, PHOTOS – Disera Wins Silver for Canada

August 29, 2013 (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) – Ontario’s Peter Disera delivered Canada’s first medal at the 2013 MTB Worlds scoring silver in the Junior Men’s 23.5km race (5 laps) won by Germany’s Lukas Baum with Italy’s Gioele Bertolini in third. Disera becomes first man to win an XC medal at the MTB Worlds since Max Plaxton won bronze in 2006 at Rotorua, New Zealand.
Marine Lewis was the top Canadian in the 18.8km Junior Women’s XCO 4-lap race as Switzerland’s Alessandra Keller claimed the gold with an average speed of 14.39 km/h. Emilie Collomb (Italy) was second and Germany’s Sarah Bauer took home the bronze.
