March 10, 2006 РThree weeks prior to the first UCI 2006 MTB World Cup event in Cura̤ao (April 1-2, 2006), which will follow the Olympic cross-country format, the UCI announces that a total of 50 MTB Teams have met the all conditions and deadlines as required by the regulations and are registered for the coming season.

This result, which is in itself a record, confirms the growth of the MTB discipline at the international level. By comparison 28 MTB teams were registered in 2004, and 36 were registered in 2005.
