UCI Masters World Championships Louisville – Update, Start Lists and PHOTOS

January 30, 2013 (Louisville, Kentucky) – The 2013 UCI Masters World Championships are underway in Louisville with lots of Canadians on board and foul weather as well. Pedal’s Peter Kraiker is on site and reports, “The area, including Louisville, was under a tornado watch last night as a severe weather pattern came through the area. It hit around 4am and tornado alerts were issued – including at the event HQ hotel – the Galt House.

“Heavy rains and powerful winds caused damage and flooded much of the Masters course which led the organizers to delay the start by two hours until the worst had passed and they had time to do repairs. Many wood chips came to the rescue of the main start/finish area.

The rain made for a very muddy and exhausting course. As the day wore on and it began to dry a little it went from a soggy messy to very sticky. Racers used “chunky peanut butter” to describe conditions,” commented Kraiker.
