UCI Introduces U23 Men\’s Continental Rankings

February 5, 2007 – Until recently, each UCI Continental Circuit (UCI Europe Tour, UCI Africa Tour, UCI America Tour, UCI Asia Tour and UCI Oceania Tour) provided three separate rankings: an individual ranking, a team ranking, and a country ranking.

Since 25 January 2007, a country ranking for the Under 23 Men’s category has been added to this list.

It will be largely on the basis of this ranking on 15 August 2007, that National Federations may qualify their athletes for the Under 23 Men’s Road race at the UCI Road World Championships, which will take place in Stuttgart, Germany, September 26-30, 2007.

The qualification system for the Under 23 men’s Road race at the UCI Road World Championships works as follows:

– The best countries from a given Continental Circuit (number will vary depending on continent), defined in accordance with the above-mentioned ranking (Under 23 Men’s country ranking) published on 15 August 2007, have the right to qualify a given number of riders.

– The top 5 countries in the final ranking of the new Under 23 Men’s Nations Cup may enter an extra rider.

You will find more detailed information in article 9.2.012 of the UCI Rules here.
