UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup #7 – Vos, Pauwels Score

January 07, 2013 (Rome, Italy) – Marianne Vos (Ned) Rabobank Liv/Giant won round 7 of the women’s UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup in Rome on Sunday, besting Katie Compton (USA) Trek Cyclocross Collective strong favourite Katie Compton (USA) Trek Cyclocross Collective by 24s. Katerina Nash (Cze) Luna Pro Team took the third podium spot, trailing the leader by over a minute. Compton leads the series with only one race remaining.

In the men’s competition, it was Kevin Pauwels (Bel) Sunweb-Napoleon Games who scored the victory by 16s over second place, Niels Albert (Bel) BKCP – Powerplus. Mountain biker Marco Aurelio Fontana (Ita) Cannondale Factory Racing finished an impressive third at only 22s behind Pauwels. With one race left in the series, Albert is in the lead with 485 points, but Pauwels is hot on his tail with 469 points.
