January 11, 2013 – The International Cycling Union (UCI) has registered 33 UCI Women’s Teams for the 2013 road season. A first team ranking was established on January 10^th, taking into account the individual UCI points of the four best athletes from each team, as well as the UCI points won at the 2012 Road World Championships team time trial.

On the basis of this ranking, the best teams will automatically be invited to participate in the major events on the calendar, in line with articles 2.1.007bis and 2.14.004 of the UCI Regulations:

– The top 20 teams of the “fictitious ranking” will automatically be invited to participate in the UCI Women Road World Cup events.

– The top 15 teams of the “fictitious ranking” will automatically be invited to participate in Hors Classe (HC) events, a category newly-introduced to the Elite Women’s calendar.

–  The top 10 teams of the “fictitious ranking” will automatically be invited to participate in Class 1 events.

Moreover, the top five nations of the 2012 UCI ranking will automatically be invited to participate in Class 1 events in 2013. These nations are the following: the Netherlands, Germany, the United States, Italy and Great Britain.
