UCI and Sufferfest.com Give Everyone a Chance to Train with World Champs

release by the UCI

January 18, 2010 – Lovers of cycling now have the chance to train with the world’s best riders at the most famous races as the result of a new partnership between the International Cycling Union (UCI) and TheSufferfest.com, a company specialising in the production of training videos for use during home trainer and group spinning sessions. The UCI’s involvement in the project means that TheSufferfest.com videos will include sequences from the UCI World Championships and other UCI events.

The first video to come out of this partnership is “Fight Club,” featuring images from the 2009 UCI Road World Championships in Mendrisio. Riders finishing a “Fight Club” session are full of praise for the quality of the structured interval workout, race footage and music. “You really feel like you are right in the middle of the race along with the peloton”, says one of the enthusiastic users who already downloaded the training program.

A recent review of “Fight Club” by www.roadcycling.co.nz calls it “the must have indoor training companion“ and states that “the motivation to chase Cancellara on the time trial or Cadel Evans up the climbs is amazing.“ The UK’s Cycling Weekly says “by the end of the hour’s work-out you’ll feel like you’ve been in a race“.

The training videos last 60 minutes, including a five-minute warm-up and five-minute warm-down. Three other videos featuring a range of UCI disciplines will be released in 2010.

The UCI “Fight Club” video is available as an immediate .mp4 download, which is compatible with both PCs and Mac, as well as iPhones and iPods. It is available at www.thesufferfest.com for $9.49 or €6.49.

Why wait? Get on your bike and race against Fabian Cancellara and Cadel Evans on the UCI World Championships course!
