Two TdF Riders Shot at While Riding Stage 13

July 17, 2009 (Colmar, France) – Two Tour de France riders, Oscar Freire (Rabobank) of Spain and Julian Dean (Garmin-Slipstream) of New Zealand were slightly wounded by a shots fired at them today reports BBC. Freire, who heard three shots, had an air gun pellet removed from his thigh while Dean was injured in his left index finger. Both riders managed to finish today’s stage and both are expected to start Saturday’s stage 14. The incident happened near the 165km point during today’s 200km stage from Vittel to Colmar race.
