July 7, 2008 – Jim Razeau of Meaford, Ont. is currently on a cross-Canada cycling trip to raise money for SickKids Foundation, the largest non-governmental granting agency in child health in Canada. Razeau started his “Truly Canadian” fundraising ride on July 2 in Vancouver, B.C., and he hopes to reach his goal of $5000 and arrive St. John’s , Nfld. after 21 days. Below is a note from Razeau about his tour.
Hello to all who take time to read this. I’m Jim Razeau and I reside in Meaford, Ont. My family and I have lived in this area for more than 10 years. Over the last few years, I’ve grown to appreciate where I’m from and have realized how lucky we are to be Canadian. There certainly cannot be too many Countries like ours. Being also very fortunate to have had my health for 46 years, some of my thoughts have lately been directed to those who haven’t been so lucky. I’ve often wondered about the children at SickKids and the limits that are imposed on them due to various illnesses. I feel that I can give back to the ones who need it the most, and to do so I have decided to try to raise money for them as I cycle across our great country this July. I will be cycling for 12 hrs+ per day in my attempt to travel from Vancouver, B.C. to St. John’s , Nfld. in four weeks or less. I do realize this will be a very trying four weeks, but on the other hand, I feel my heart has a lot to give. Any donation towards this worthy cause would be appreciated. Or maybe, passing my message and this cause on to someone you think would be interested would also be appreciated. Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this. Wish me luck. – Jim
