True North Cycles Presents – 2009 Singlespeed Cyclo-Cross Nationals

release by True North Cycles

August 26, 2009 (Guelph, ON) – There is now only one month to go until the 2009 Singlespeed Cyclo-Cross Nationals and the excitement is building. Cyclists from across Canada will converge upon South End Community Park in Guelph, Ontario on September 26th for the speed, the excitement and the festivities that will surround the Nationals.

Many of Canada’s elite cyclists will be in attendance and have geared their late season training around winning this event. Recently we received photos of Ontario Provincial Cyclo-cross series winner Andrew Watson readying his back up bike for the event. Watson commented “When I heard about this event, I began training for it immediately! A few of my teammates questioned why I was practicing dismounts and barriers the morning of the mountain bike world cups, but my aim is clear; the Singlespeed Cyclo-Cross Nationals is the most important race I will do this year!” Former Canadian National Cyclo-Cross Champion Roddi Lega went on record saying “I would trade my Transrockies win, my Canada Cup overall victory and my National Cyclo-Cross Championship jersey for a chance at the Singlespeed Cyclo-Cross National title.”

Sponsors have stepped up in a big way and thanks to Cycles Lambert, Outdoor Gear Canada, Octto and Misfit Psycles we will have plenty of good prizes. All cyclists who compete at the Singlespeed Cyclo-Cross Nationals will be entered into a draw to win a Custom True North Cycles frame. The winner of the Men’s and Women’s title will also receive free entry into the Singlespeed Cyclo-Cross Worlds this fall in Portland.

“The Monster Show” has signed on to provide the music and Chef Hugh Black will be serving up some great food to all the Singlespeed competitors.

Keep checking here in the upcoming weeks for more information. As a reminder the Singlespeed Cyclo-Cross Nationals will include all regular categories and is a stop on the Southern Ontario Cyclo-Cross Series. We would also like to encourage everyone to stay the night in Guelph and race the very next day at the Speed River Cross.

See you on the 26th!
