February 1, 2007 – The city of Trois-Rivières will soon have a bike path over the St. Maurice River, reported Radio Canada earlier this week. André Gabias, the local member of provincial legislature, in the company of Julie Boulet, the Minister delegated to Transport, announced that a bike path will be built on the Duplessis Bridge in 2008 as part of a $25 million program.
The 3-meter wide path will be built on the south side of the bridge. Vélo Québec has long been calling for such a bike path.
Despite its name, Trois-Rivières is where two, not three, major rivers meet. The two rivers are the St. Maurice and the St. Lawrence.
