April 18, 2013 (Santa Rosa, California) – The 2013 season is now well underway and with a few races under their belt, the Trek Red Truck Racing Team headed to Santa Rosa, California for their annual training camp.

With the new roster finalized, TRT squad rookies include Henri DeBoever, Jesse Reams, and Craig Richey. On the woman’s side, Vancouver Island native Megan Rathwell, Allison Beveridge, and sprinting power-house Sarah Coney were recruited for 2013.

Before Santa Rosa, the team had already enjoyed some early-season success including Jesse Reams and Cody Canning taking 4th and 5th respectively at the Armstrong Escape Velocity Spring Series road race, and Jenny Lehman coming in second for the women.

After a few notoriously wet Spring Series races, the team peeled off their leg warmers and headed south. A squad comprised of veterans Cody Canning, Bailey McKnight, Adam DeVos, Megan Rathwell, Jenny Lehmann, and Sarah Coney headed down to the San Dimas stage Race in Southern California. The race proved to be difficult, with Jenny getting caught up in a crash during Saturday’s road race, and all but Adam DeVos missing the time cut. Sarah Coney had a strong ride in the crit, finishing in the top 20, and although it was a difficult, the race proved to be a valuable learning experience for the team.

Meanwhile, the rest of the team headed to Santa Rosa to kick-off the annual Trek Red Truck team Training Camp. This event is a highlight for the elite t team and sponsors alike, and this year did not disappoint.

Highlights of the week included an individual time trial up Pine Flats, and the epic King’s Ridge ride.

Daily re-caps of each day of camp can be found on the team website here.

Shortly after returning back to Canada, the team was met with some dismal conditions for Barry’s Roubaix in Vancouver BC. Despite some extremely wet and gritty conditions, The Trek Red Truck Team was a dominant presence in both the men’s and the woman’s race, with Bailey McKnight finishing 3rd, followed by Craig Richey in 4th.

Megan Rathwell spent a majority of the race driving the pace of the woman’s race, and when the race came down to a sprint finish, Jenny Lehman was able to pull off 2nd place behind Trek Red Truck Alumni Leah Kirchmann.
