Trek Red Truck Racing Presented by Mosaic Homes Announces 2008 Roster

November 28, 2007 – Trek Red Truck Racing Presented by Mosaic Homes has announced its 2008 race season line-up which includes a host of promising new riders and a brand new presenting sponsor. The Vancouver, BC-based team will have a total of 27 riders for its upcoming 2008 race program, and will be will once again be focussing primarily on developing espoir-age riders the Pacific Northwest racing circuit with a concentration on BC’s Super Week in July. The team will also be sending selected riders to compete at the Grand Prix De Beauce in Quebec, various races in France, and the Canadian National Championships.

Returning to the team are espoirs riders; Nathan MacDonald, Dave Vukets, Jackson Buehler, and Josh James with the addition of Dave Brooks for this season and two new Junior riders Kevin Thorpe and Jason Manning. The Category 1/2 squad will be led by returning rider Kevin Noiles, with new-comers Rob Britton, Jamie Sparling, Tyler Trace and veteran Chris White. The Masters Men will include James Neil, Jay Murray, Steve Engh, Geoff Rice, Fred Herrmann, Mark James, Graeme Martindale, Sven Sturm, Dave Watt, Jamie Davidson, and Brian Green. On the women’s side the team will consist of Sara Neil, Corinne Issel, Fiona Macleod, Courtney Albert, and Anne-Marie LeFrancois.

The team has also announced the appointment of Mark Ernsting as Race Manager for the upcoming season. Mark had a successful career as a competitive cyclist highlighted by 5 National Championship victories on the track, and 4 US Collegiate Division 1 National titles. He represented Canada at numerous World Cups on the track highlighted by 2nd and 5th place finishes at the 2003 Pan American Games, and spent several season riding with teams in France and Belgium.

While working on his graduate studies, he was the director of the MSU/HHH Cycling Team in Texas for 2 years where he guided the team to 16 US National Championships and was responsible for International Athlete Recruitment. He received a B.Hkin (Human Kinetics) degree, a MS in Exercise Physiology, and a Ph.D in Exercise Science. He was a Professor of Exercise Science in West Virginia for 3 years and has taught courses in Exercise Science and Sports Management. He recently founded M1 Sports Management, which is a strategic marketing and consulting company aimed at corporate marketing, event management, and athlete representation.

Team Director Steve Engh commented, “the addition of Mark to fill a much needed role as our Race Manager will prove to be invaluable especially for our younger aspiring riders, who will benefit from his experiences as an athlete and his qualifications and expertise in physiology. He will provide the support the riders need to maximize their potential and achieve a high level of success for themselves and the team. In 2008, the team looks to build upon last year’s success which included a Provincial Road Championship, a silver medal at the National Championships, placing top Canadian at the Tour de L’Avenir and a rider named to the National Team in Stuttgart, Germany. Ryan Anderson, the rider who provided those results, was picked up by Symmetrics Cycling this year and the many talented riders new to the team give us reason to set our goals and expectations high.”

The teams presenting sponsor for this year, Mosaic Homes, is a Vancouver, based developer founded in 1999 by a group of experienced building industry professionals. The company is active with projects in both Vancouver, BC and Seattle, WA, with a focus on row homes and town home developments, and condominium and town home conversions. The company has 21 active projects in various stages of development and currently employs a staff of 54 in Vancouver and 24 in Seattle.
