TransAlps Challenge Spots Available

March 11, 2005 – Join an exclusive group of world-wide riders who have conquered both the Alps and the Rockies. The TransAlps Challenge is an eight day, 700 km mountain bike race through three countries, being held for the eighth time this July. The TransAlps was the inspiration for the creation of the TransRockies Challenge, and the two events retain close ties to this day.

Through our special relationship with the TransAlps Challenge organizers, we have secured 10 exclusive two-person team spots in the 2006 event who qualify through participation in the 2005 TransRockies Challenge. The 2005 TransAlps Challenge sold out all 500 team spots in 60 minutes, so this is a special opportunity to beat the odds. (Note: Regular registration fee applies)

2005 TransRockies Challenge Participants who wish to access these TransAlps spots must submit their name to info@transrockies.com no later that October 31, 2005. A lottery system will be used to select the 10 teams from all interested applicants.

New Categories Highlight the Spirit of Adventure and Competition at Any Age The TransRockies team announced last month the introduction of three new categories for 2005. One of these categories, 100+ Open, was announced in the fall. Now, two additional new categories have been added: Mixed Master 80+, and Women Master 80+. Now there are seven TransRockies categories to choose from!

“Participants have been asking for more categories,” said TransRockies Event Director Aaron McConnell. “Everyone wants to be able to compare their performance with a comparable group, the new categories will allow them to do that.” While the average age of TR participants was 38 in 2004, over 40% of participants were 40 or older. The new category will enhance the experience for those in this age group. The $20,000 prize purse will continue to be allocated to the categories according to the size of the category as a percentage of the entire field.

Take advantage of the new categories by registering today! For those who have already registered, you can switch categories by emailing info@transrockies.com. Please include your team name, and team member names.
