October 24, 2008 – Ivan Basso is marking his comeback to competitive cycling today with the launch of his new web site, which will openly show his workouts and test results at www.ivanbasso.it.
Basso’s first race is scheduled for this Sunday at the Japan Cup, and will be available on the Internet. Two live web casted video conferences will be held on www.teamliquigas.it and will feature Basso’s thoughts and emotions before and after the race.
The web casts are scheduled for Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26 at 11 a.m. (Italian time). Viewers will also be invited ask questions by e-mailing team@lauta.it.
“With my comeback to races, I strongly need to share with my fans my way of sport and life. That’s why I decided to renew my website in order to be open to everybody. In cooperation with the Mapei Centre of Aldo Sassi, I stated to put online all the info about my workouts. Not only the usual facts about the pedalling power, the rpm, and Vo2 Max but also my personal facts such as the mass of hemoglobin and the evaluation tests,” said Basso.
The website will help “Bianca Garavaglia”, a charity devoted to the fight against cancer in children and teenagers. The “Garavaglia” association is connected to Istituto nazionale tumori di Milano (Italian national institute for cancer research in Milan), one of most important centres for research and treatment of childhood cancers.
