Senior Men’s Update
Nick Hamilton (Trek Red Truck Racing) and Jamie Sparling (Total Restoration Cycling Team) used the 150km Waitsburg RR, the final stage of the Tour of Walla Walla, to re-shuffle the GC deck and finished 1-2 respectively in the 4-race event. Both riders needed to claw back approximately 45 seconds on Lenovo’s Ian McKissick (formerly with BMC) who was sitting in 1st place after dominating the ITT on Saturday. Nick Hamilton, who hails from Calgary, is a relative newcomer to the sport, and only took it up four or five years ago after moving to Victoria to attend university. After ‘hanging out’ with the cycling crowd he had met through mutual friends, he decided to try out the sport. He’s obviously getting good at it. Full results to follow.

Great weekend for Cycling BC’s Junior Road Team in Walla Walla, USA
A small but select group of Cycling BC’s juniors took on the best riders in the USA at the Walla Walla stage race in Washington this weekend. The team rode exceptionally well, in the 3rd Category and Junior races. The highlight of the weekend was Jasmin winning the last stage of the women’s race, putting her in 3rd overall, and top Junior. Craig Logan was 3rd in the Time Trial and placed 3rd overall and was also the first Junior. This small team will be joined by more riders for the coming season, with the goal of competing at the Junior Nationals and making the Road World Championships team in Italy later in the year. Craig Logan has already been selected for Canada, and heads to Belgium in the next few weeks.
