September 19, 2003 – This year's race, as always, had teams representing Austria, Beligium, UK, USA, Canada, Barbados, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad & Tobago, and more. All eyes and local newspapers are on Emil Abraham (Trinidad and Tobago), the perennial champion.
The Midweek club was represented by Peter Morse, Chris Atkins, David Fry, Bruce Krip, and guest rider Joe Giuiliano. The start of the first climb was unusually aggressive in comparison to previous years. Chris Atkins flatted early, as did Giuliano. Fry sacrificed his wheel to get Giuliano back in the race early as possible, which worked out well. Morse and Giuliano went into the initial chase group, and then Giuliano bridged up to lead group of six. This group of six turned out to be the final selection, in which Giuliano placed second.
