Tour of Spain 2003 – Stage 5

September 10, 2003 – Alessandor Petacchi took another victory in a grand tour – this makes it twelve this year including the Tour of Italy, and the Tour de France. He took the stage over Angel Ido (Milaneza-MSS) and Julian Dean (CSC). Canada's Michael Barry (USPS) said today was “a stressful and nervous day as it was really windy. The team hit the front a few times and split the group but most of it came back together. Today's goal was generally to keep Roberto and the other climbers out of trouble and in the front.” Barry says he feels good and hopes tomorrow is a bit easier for most of the team as they will try and recoup some energy before the mountains where they'll be needed again.
